Take in the vibrant Rio Nightlife! Eat, dance, move, the taste of Rio!
Arriving as a tourist it can be hard to find the best places to experience real Rio de Janeiro nightlife!
Mixed and hidden in between prostitution, tourists, transvestites, samba and capirinhas the Rio nightlife pearls can be found in all regions, at all hours, drumming and pulsating as a part of the brazilian samba capitol!
The famous South Zone, the wild side of Rio de Janeiro!
The traditionally
most famous area for clubs and going out is the southern region
with Copacabana and Ipanema. These city parts are filled with small
bars and restaurants, from a samba at the beach bars to more fashonable
"eateries" or churrascarias where you basically pay a fee to get
in then eat as much as you'd like.
Here
you'll also find clubs, discos and nightlife for all tastes.
Many
of the Copacabana and Ipanema clubs has become open clubs often
frequented by the GLS (Gay, lesbian and sympathisers). The most
famous ones being the three clubs lying next to each other; Le Boy
(for men), La Girl (for lesbians), and the
Bunker.
My
favourite is a relative newly opened place called Fosfobox.
The place is a basement, underground garage, playing alternative
music like the Cure, Sonic Youth, Copacabana has a mix of people
from all societies and, especially later at night, will have a higher
concentration of prostitution.
Keep
attentive and go near other people. Don't wear your valuables after
midnight. Ipanema is the focal point voice up for young people with
a desire for a night out, or as the brasilians say "noite" (meaning
night). You'll find several popular discos here, some too crowded
with tourists, others for gays.
Places
to go out:
Emporio,
small open bar, alternative music Less known among tourists are
the nightclubs in Botafogo.
One
of my favourites can be found here; Casa
de Matrix A common house made into a nightclub!
So
for those enjoying the feeling of home alone parties this is it!
