Get lost in the Casa de Matriz nightclub of Rio de Janeiro!

If you’re out to explore the Rio de Janeiro nightlife, Casa de Matriz is a must! The nightclub is located in Botafogo and is a house with many rooms, bars and dancefloors. The feeling is almost like a home alone party, with ease to get to know people and great music.

The layout of casa de matriz is divided into many rooms which make you wonder what’s in the next one! The whole feeling of curiosity lead to rotation of people in the narrow hallways with people looking for their friends, bumping into each other making lots of excuses to make contact with strangers. Brazilians are an adorable and curios sort who love communicating with strangers, so if you know some Portuguese, the Brazilians know some English, you’re set to go.


One of the 2 dance floors in Casa da Matriz. This nighclub is quite liberal, so if you smell something distintly sweet it's probably marihuana, it's very common here.


There are two main dance floors in Casa de Matriz playing different kinds of music. Usually rock and alternative music with the occasional MPB (popular brazilian music) to make the crowd alive! The main bar is at the entrance at ground level, but you’ll find small bars also in the second floor.


Main Bar right by the entrance on the 1.th floor. Make sure to try the national drink, Caipirinha! Be aware they are stronger than what they appear!


There are several rooms to sit down in, relax a bit and a chance to talk. Some of the rooms have television with music videos and films, for the old comadore 64 fans, there is also one room with old computer games like Pac Man and the one where you shoot waves of aliens gradually coming closer to earth.


In one of the many rooms at Casa da matriz, you'll find old time computer classics like pacman and spaceship! Quite fun in between rock'n roll!


There whole place has a laid back atmosphere. There are no requirements in cloths to go here, you’ll see people in Bermuda or casual cloths. You might even see some people light up suspiciously looking cigarettes with a sweet smell, a common thing in Brazil.

To get in you pay 20 reais ($7), pluss what ever you want to consume. On entering, you get a card where all drinks or food are added. When exiting the bills are made up and the 20 reais added. Be sure to take good care of the card because if you loose it you have to pay 100 reais to exit ($34).
